Since I shared a work reel yesterday I thought it Since I shared a work reel yesterday I thought it would be nice to share a reel of my daily life. I’m trying to find the balance on here a bit more. I’m going to keep doing the things I love while still working hard 🌿
The Making of Pearl Reddington Knitwear by @tomlee The Making of Pearl Reddington Knitwear by @tomleefilm Hello again, my lovely followers! 🕊️ I want to start by saying a heartfelt thank you for your incredible support of my work and patience while this knitwear account became more of a foraging account! I’ve been a bit quieter on here lately, as daily life took over during the summer, and my priorities shifted to find a more balanced rhythm. I want to express my deep gratitude to my amazing production team who keep crafting, even when I’m off in the woods searching for mushrooms. These past few summer months have been a bit quieter for our knitwear, but I’m now back in the office, passionately working on all the admin tasks for the busy season ahead. Being self-employed often means a delicate balance, and there are days when I’ve thought, “Does it really matter if I write web copy today?” But I’ve learned that these small tasks can pile up and become more stressful than they should be. So, I’m excited to return to a proper schedule, and I can’t wait to experience the satisfaction of getting everything organised. I’m genuinely looking forward to sharing more of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating my garments, from the beautiful yarn spun by @donegalyarns to the meticulous hand-dyeing of my signature neon cuffs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering patience and support! It means the world to me. 🙏 Let’s embark on this new work journey together! With excitement and gratitude. Pearl xo

Awh I’m feeling so connected to nature lately an Awh I’m feeling so connected to nature lately and I just wanted to share some small moments on here. I have a lot of unhealthy habits but learning intuitively from the land is helping a very ungrounded girl feel a strong sense of place 🌱 I’ve realised it actually doesn’t take too much to make me happy 🥰
🌸 How to make rose water to use as natural tone 🌸 How to make rose water to use as natural toner 🌸 This method gives you the most concentrated rose water but takes a few more steps than just simmering some petals in water. That also works but only makes a mild infusion which doesn’t last that long. In the distillation method, the rose water collects on the underside of the lid as condensation and drips into the bowl. * Place a small heat-resistant bowl in the center of a wide pot.
* Add the petals to the pot, careful they don’t get stuck under the bowl.
* Add water to the pot until the petals are just submerged.
* Place the lid upside down on the pot, and place the ice cubes in the lid.
* Bring to a boil.
* Continue adding ice cubes as needed.
*  simmer for 30–45 minutes.
* Carefully remove the lid with to check the color of the petals. Once they’ve lost their color, you’re done!
* Allow the rose water to cool completely.
* Once cool, transfer the rose water from the bowl to a spray bottle.
* Refrigerate and use for up to 6 months. Ps the water in the pot can also be strained and used as in the simmering method so none of your rose petals go to waste!

Product Care

The great thing about merino wool knitwear is that it requires far less washing than synthetic fibres. Merino wool is breathable and self cleaning. Airing your knitwear on a crisp, breezy day is enough for the wool to neutralise and feel fresh again. Wool is naturally dirt repellent. Even liquid dirt finds it hard to penetrate the fibre, but rather stays on the surface, where once dry, it can be brushed off easily. Wool is also able to bind and neutralise sweat and is naturally resistant to odours, making it ideal for multiple wears. So, if your knitwear isn’t physically dirty, there is no rush to wash it! If there is a small mark, a spot clean will do the job. The less you wash it, the longer your wool will last.

If you do need to wash your knits, Pearl recommends hand washing with care:

  • Use warm water and mix it with a gentle wool detergent.
  • Submerge the garment and soak it for 10-15 minutes.
  • Carefully rinse the garment in warm water.
  • Press or roll in a clean, dry towel to remove as much water as possible. Do not wring it.
  • Never tumble dry pure wool.
  • Place it flat on a dry towel, keep it away from sunlight and let it air-dry. Avoid any creases or wrinkles by straightening out while damp. Wool will dry in the shape it is placed in.
  • If your washing machine has a good delicate programme, you can machine wash in cold water before drying as detailed above.

** Please note: do NOT wash any pompoms in the washing machine, unless you want to see your fluffy head topper turn into a squidgy felt pebble forever. **
