OUR BUDMO QUILT COULD BE YOURS FOR JUST €5!?! T OUR BUDMO QUILT COULD BE YOURS FOR JUST €5!?! To raise money for Legacy of War Foundation I have decided to design, make and raffle-off this utterly unique patchwork quilt. The Budmo Quilt was finally finished last week after months of hard work by my Mam, Lisa! We started this quilt back in March when the war had already been going on for too long, and now 9 months later lives are still being torn apart by Russia’s senseless invasion.    The colours in this piece are an ode to the Ukrainian Flag. The design is inspired by beautiful paper cut outs called Vytynanky that I saw in a tiny folk museum in rural Ukraine. I wanted to make this quilt personal so I chose my own houseplants for the design pattern. You can read more about how we made the quilt in my story highlights. You can enter the raffle by clicking the Paypal link in my bio and sending the amount that you would like to donate. Raffle tickets are €5 for 1 entry. However, if you donate €20 then you get 5 raffle tickets, meaning you have 5 entries. Also, if you share this post to your story and tag us then you automatically receive an extra free entry!! When you send us your donation amount please include your full name and instagram handle or phone number so we know who to contact when we announce the winner. Raffle closes on 20th December so we can post out the lucky winner’s quilt in time for Christmas. We will use an automatic number generator to pick the winner. All money donated will go directly to Legacy of War Foundation who are working to help the most vulnerable Ukrainians. Please note we will also be selling physical raffle tickets @irishpopupcollective tomorrow and @hensteethdublin from the 15th December. If anyone has any questions regarding the raffle please don’t hesitate to DM or email me. Thanks guys! Pearl and Lisa x
Initial inspiration, drawings and samples for what Initial inspiration, drawings and samples for what will hopefully be a capsule collection of garments made by Mam to compliment my knitwear 🌾 Some times I get frustrated being so into fashion but limited to exclusively making knitwear… So this is a nice chance to start designing a little different. Idk what it’s going to be yet but I know I want smocked shirts, embroidered aprons, and linen babywear cause I’m constantly broody af. Anyway my Mam knows me better than anyone so I’m really excited for her to turn my scribbles into real life pieces. Her embroidery is so intricate, beautiful and original and I can’t wait to see it as detailing on clothing. Embroidery on knitwear is a pain and you loose so much detail but imagine how beautiful it will be on a fresh Irish linen blouse…STOP
I haven’t finished my kitchen so I’ve been coo I haven’t finished my kitchen so I’ve been cooking outside most days 🙂 My knives are blunt af and I forgot to press record for the whole risotto process but here’s what I made for dinner today 🙂 *Risotto - you know what to do! I melted anchovies into the onions before adding a splash of wine and then after that it was just a basic veg stock risotto 🙂 *Prawn Pil Pil -
raw prawns with their shell on (I had 6)
4 garlic cloves (2 sliced, 2 squashed)
olive oil (idk like 100ml)
chilli (finely chopped)
lemon juice (1tbsp I guess)
parsley
Salt and pepper Peel prawns: leave tail on, I don’t bother de-veining when they’re this small.
Sprinkle prawns with salt and set aside.
Squeeze heads into a bowl.
Peel garlic, squash two cloves, slice the other two.
Heat oil, add prawn heads and squashed garlic - cook till pink.
Pass oil through sieve, throw away the solids
Return oil to heat, add chillies, cook 1 min, add prawns, cook 1 min, add sliced garlic cook one min.
Stir lemon juice to prawn head juice then add to pan with parsley and season to taste 🙂 Serve with Centra’s finest white wine 🙄

Moments from Dromahair 🌱 For the whole first d Moments from Dromahair 🌱 For the whole first day Dublin pup Ted hid under the car pedals, probably thinking since he came in the car maybe he’d go back in the car. By day two he was running around the fields, jumping “over” ditches and raising his hackles at cattle. Back home he would never swim out of his depth but just yesterday he went after a stick far enough out to make me impressed. Proud of this little baby for making the move and I guess slightly proud of myself too 🙄
Sketching Ukrainian lunches from memory 💙 The Sketching Ukrainian lunches from memory 💙 The photos I see now of Ukraine are horrifying, heartbreaking and desolate, the exact opposite of the rich-gold-tinted country I visited less than a year ago. Drawing is helping me remember and imagine what life in Ukraine will be like again very soon. The thought I had most when I was there was “woah everyone here is so superior to me ahah”. At clubs I was the worst dressed, at dinners I was the least educated, the least travelled, the least cultured. I didn’t even know how to scan qr codes for menus or that you could buy little electronic filters for your smokes. I got driven around in cars that don’t even exist in Ireland. I was flown across the country by my generous new pal and picked up by his driver and invited to stay in his apartment with a gold couch and surround sound that came on when you entered each room. I came home with the realisation that in Dublin we have such ideas of grandeur about ourselves lol. The streets in Kyiv were spotless, with beautiful parks everywhere. Every restaurant served unfiltered wines without making a big deal of serving unfiltered wines ahah. All my new friends were cooler than me, they were in steady relationships with beautiful babies, had better jobs, owned their own apartments and most importantly had more instagram followers than me lol… Now they’re separated from their families scattered across Europe. When I went to the countryside I saw people living right. They were proud of their land, connected to it, growing, farming, fishing and fermenting. Outside each house you’d see a table with all the produce from their garden for sale. Fruit dripped from the trees, the lakes were alive with fish, I had the realisation that life can be so simple if we connect with nature, if we connect with our food. In Transcarpathia there was life everywhere, the air was thick with the scent of warm earth, wild flowers and wood smoke. I remember thinking if I’m ever lucky enough to get married someday I’m going to have my wedding here. I’ve never been somewhere so beautiful. I can’t wait to go back. Continued in comments.

    • Machine wash on a delicate cycle no hotter than 30 degrees.
    • Do not tumble dry! Line dry only.
    • Linen naturally wrinkles after washing. These creases will ease out naturally with heat and use but if you wish you can iron at a low temperature. Too hot an iron will scorch the fabric.
    • Please contact us if you have any questions on caring for your quilt.
